HURLEY - Celebrate Italy and Iron County's Italian heritage Saturday during the city's annual Festival Italiano on Silver Street. Although they probably wish otherwise, today was the first day of the 2015-16 school year for students in the Hurley and Mercer school districts. BESSEMER TOWNSHIP, Mich. - David J. Czerneski, 63, of Nelson Road, Bessemer Township, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Aug. 28, 2015, at home, with his loving wife by his side, following a courageous battle with mesothelioma. HURLEY - Hurley's 10th straight victory over Ironwood Friday night was its biggest in the impressive run. The Midgets defeated Ironwood 55-6, the 49-point margin of victory eclipsing the 42-point defeats last year and in 2012.
