Held in conjunction with the Sisu Ski Fest, the event offers area children a free cross country skiing lesson from local experts. Around 30 children participated in this year's event, which is geared for kids 10 and under. Boots, skis and poles were provided as the kids learned on a special trail just for them at the park.     By ZACHARY MARANO [email protected] HOUGHTON — There is still no end in sight for the coronavirus pandemic in 2022 as COVID-19 case rates have more than doubled in Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties since the last update in December, according to an update from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department on Thursday. Locally, the 2021 Red Kettle Campaign brought in $25,000, which is 50% of its 2020 earnings. The Salvation Army had a constant kettle at the Walgreens in Ironwood.
