Evelyn was born on July 25, 1922, in Mellen, Wis., to Casper and Theresa (Beyer) Wasieleski. She graduated from Mellen High School. During World War II, she worked for the war effort in Chicago; and after the war, she worked at resorts around Little Bohemia in Manitowish Waters, Wis.
