Laguna said from October 2012 through June of 2018 the city of Hurley experienced 16 sanitation overflows resulting in approximately 10 million gallons of waste-water being pumped on the ground. “These discharges end up in the Montreal River, which then discharges into Lake Superior,” he said. WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Waino E. Salli, 96, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Tuesday morning, Jan. 15, 2019. Waino was born during a snowstorm on Feb. 24, 1922, at the family farmhouse in Kimball, Wis., the oldest son of Gust and Olga (Lehtola) Salli. He was the third of nine siblings to Finnish immigrants.
