Monday afternoon’s heat officially rose to a record 94 degrees according to a National Weather Service recording at the Gogebic-Iron Wastewater Treatment Facility in Ironwood. BERGLAND, Mich. - Michael A. Streeter, 71, a longtime resident of Bergland, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on June 16, 1950, in Ontonagon, a son of Arthur Elmer and Elizabeth "Betty" (Davies) Streeter. On June 26, 1971, Mike married Janice M. Lyberg in L'Anse. Chris Ouellette, a spokesperson for Xcel Energy based in Eau Claire, said Tuesday morning in an email at 10:30 a.m. that 4,700 customers were without power in Gogebic and Ontonagon counties in Michigan and Iron and Vilas counties in Wisconsin. HANCOCK — New COVID-19 cases in the western Upper Peninsula continued to rise over the past seven days as Gogebic and Ontonagon counties moved from low to medium COVID-19 community levels, according to an update from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department on Thursday.
