GREENLAND, Mich. - Eli Isotalo, 91 of Greenland, died peacefully on July 4, 2020. He was born in Greenland on March 24, 1929, to Henry and Lempi (Raivio) Isotalo. Eli graduated from Mass High School as class president in 1948. A proud veteran, he served his country in the Korean Conflict as a sergeant of the 73rd Combat Engineers from 1951-1953. The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department has reported a seventh positive COVID-19 case for Gogebic County. After reporting two new cases last Friday, the Iron County Health Department in Hurley said its sixth confirmed COVID-19 case was reported on Saturday. ONTONAGON, Mich. - Ronald Jay Powelson, age 75, of Ontonagon, Michigan, passed away at his home on June 16, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on Jan. 15, 1945, to Donald and Faye (Davis) Powelson. He graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1963. He then entered the U.S. Army where he proudly serviced his country during the Vietnam War. The new park is adjacent to the present Ontonagon Township Campground. The park was made possible when the township was able to purchase the property from the estate of the late Doug Filppula.
