The Midgets also had to work through losing running back/tight end/defensive back Jake Colassaco, who sprained his ankle in the first half. “We had to work our way through some things tod...

KINGSFORD — At 5-2, Ironwood freshman Rachel Hudacek doesn’t stand very high, but she jumps high, higher than anyone else in Division 2 in the Upper Peninsula on Saturday. Cole Stevens picked up Ironwood’s other U.P. championship, with a 12-0 mark in the pole vault. “She’s not very tall, but she’s got great spr...

NORWAY, Mich. — Baseball coaches like to say that teams that play solid defense and pitch well (with few walks) are likely to come out on the winning end of ball games. On Friday afternoon in Norway, Stephenson used that simple formula to down Ironwood 8-1 in the opening round Division IV District Tournament. "It was a real good team effort," Stephenson manager Dan Koller said. "We played a clean game and the defense did its job (no errors). If you make the plays on defense, you've got a good s...
