    BESSEMER — As work on the second phase of the Western Gateway Trail progresses from Ironwood to Moore Street in Bessemer, the authority governing the trail found out Wednesday the later phases of the project may have hit a road block. In Bessemer, the authority is negotiating with Pat Steiger to allow the trail to pass through his property on the western end of the city.     IRONWOOD - As residents continue to use the Western Gateway Trail in Ironwood, work continues to extend the popular trail into Bessemer. The first section of the trail runs from the Montreal River to Ironwood's eastern city limit, with the next section extending to Bessemer's Moore Street.     The Gogebic County Emergency Management Agency and other local officials declared an emergency Tuesday morning because of the severe storm that began Monday evening. Reports of damage began around 9 p.m. in Gogebic County. Heavy rain and strong winds caused flash flooding and knocked down trees in Bessemer Township, Ironwood Township and the city of Wakefield. The Gogebic County Sheriff's Department said Wakefield, Little Girl's Point and Black River Harbor were heavily affected by the storm....

    BESSEMER — A Ramsay man was sentenced to three years in prison in Gogebic County Circuit Court Tuesday on drug charges. Michael Scott Johnson, 21, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Michael Pope on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin with intent to sell.
