ONTONAGON — A young girl was rescued from the frigid waters of the Ontonagon River on Friday. According to Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post, the girl slipped off the boardwalk at Elmer Park in the village of Ontonagon and fell into the river. MSP Sgt. BESSEMER — The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners was informed this week that the Superior Watershed Partnership has received $3 million in state and federal funding to provide heating and electrical assistance for low income families in all 15 counties of the Upper Peninsula. BESSEMER — The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department released the name of the 65-year-old woman whose body was recovered near Rainbow Falls at Black River Harbor on Wednesday.
