HURLEY — An Ironwood woman who failed to report to the Iron County Jail to serve a sentence received an additional six-month sentence this week. Kristen Samierad, 29, entered a no contest plea to the misdemeanor charge and was found guilty by Iron County Judge Patrick Madden, according to court records. BESSEMER — The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners was informed this week that the Superior Watershed Partnership has received $3 million in state and federal funding to provide heating and electrical assistance for low income families in all 15 counties of the Upper Peninsula.
