    IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — A 49-year-old Hurley man died in a Saturday afternoon kayaking accident on the Black River. Clint Mabie suffered a head injury around 2:30 p.m. while kayaking near Narrows Creek, according to Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post. State police and deputies from the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department responded, along with paramedics from Beacon Ambulance, after receiving a report that a member of a group of kayakers had been injured.     ONTONAGON — The Ontonagon County Cancer Association is planning for its annual door-to-door canvas. Hundreds of volunteers from all parts of the county will begin the canvas May 7. They will not only be collecting funds in support of the association, but will bring life saving material to each home. The 1987 Seagrave and 1981 Pierce Ladder trucks were sold to Sam Wagner, of Cross Plains, Wis. IPSD director Andrew DiGiorgio said the trucks will be used in a logging operation.
