    ONTONAGON - "Use it or lose it" was the message the Ontonagon County Economic Development Corporation received Wednesday, concerning the Ontonagon Revolving Loan Funds. Dale Cook, Regional Loan Manages for Northern Initiatives, which manager all the Western U.P. RLF funds, stressed the revolving loan fund board has received a letter from the state concerning a little known clause in the revolving loan fund regulations called " continuing activity."   • Courthouse annex bid approved

    BESSEMER — A bid for a new roof on the annex to the courthouse was approved by the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday. An $88,682 bid from Quality Roofing, of Marshfield, Wis., was approved, as recommended by the county board’s economic development and capital improvements committee. Tom Laabs, of Ironwood, chair of the committee, said there will be a 20-year warranty on the rubber roof. He said the old roofing material will be removed.     MERCER, Wis. - Tuesday's election was largely a day of victory for the sitting politicians in Mercer, after the majority of officeholders on the ballot won re-election.     MERCER, Wis. — Mercer School Board Vice President Kelly Kohegyi won re-election in Tuesday’s election, defeating challenger Paul Juske by a vote total of 389 to 262.   • Iron County Health Department holds annual health fair

    HURLEY - The kindergartners through sixth graders in the Hurley Schools got a break from their normal class schedules on March 27 as the Iron County Health Department held its annual health fair in the school's gym.     IRONWOOD - A two-car accident shortly after noon on Friday partially closed U.S. 2 at Lowell Street while one of the vehicles was removed from the highway.     IRONWOOD - The gym at Luther L. Wright was temporarily converted into a medical center Wednesday as the American Red Cross held a blood drive at the school.     IRONWOOD — The Ironwood City Commission went on record this week supporting the May 5 Michigan ballot proposal that would increase the sales tax from 6 percent to 7 percent to fund transportation improvements.     HURLEY — Will Andresen had some good news for the Ironwood City Commission on Monday evening. The Community Resource Development Educator with the Iron County University of Wisconsin-Extension office said $50,000 has been raised for the Western Gateway non-motorized trail project in the Ironwood area.
