IRONWOOD — Near zero temperatures that arrived on Monday on the Gogebic Range are helping firm snowmobile trails, according to area groomers. The wet spots under the snow are beginning to freeze, setting a solid base for grooming the trails. The more than five feet of snowfall in November insulated water in low spots on the trails. IRONWOOD — While 2014 marked an extremely busy year in Ironwood, city manager Scott Erickson said it will pale in comparison to 2015. IRONWOOD - The candlelight snowshoe and ski at the Miner's Memorial Heritage Park drew more than 175 people into the chilly night air to spend some quiet moments on the softly lit trail Saturday evening. WATERSMEET - The Ironwood Public Safety Department hazardous materials team broke in equipment for the first time on Wednesday during a semi tractor and trailer accident on U.S. 2 in Watersmeet. WATERSMEET - Deputies responded to a semi tractor-trailer accident on Wednesday at 6:20 a.m. and U.S. 2 remained closed through around 5 p.m. The accident occurred near mile marker 59, according to the Gogebic County Sheriff's Department.
