BESSEMER - The Bessemer City Council heard from Bessemer Chamber of Commerce president Kathy Whitburn about the chamber's plans for the year. IRONWOOD - It was the Bowl For Kids fundraising event Saturday at Larry's Lucky Strikes for the U.P. Kids Big Brothers Big Sisters program. KIMBALL, Wis. — It was turkey with all the fixings all Sunday afternoon at the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department’s 33rd annual Turkey Dinner fundraiser. Fire Chief John Smith called the turn out “very good” with a mid-afternoon rush that pushed the number of diners to more than 800 by 3 p.m. More were expected before closing at 5. BESSEMER — The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday agreed to call for bids on a new roof on the annex to the courthouse. The building and grounds committee recommended seeking bids. The bid opening will be on March 23, according to Tom Laabs, of Ironwood, chair of the committee. Laabs said it could be around a $100,000 project, with funding possibly to come from the delinquent tax fund.
