For a fresh take on barbecued pulled pork we decided to reinvent it from the bottom up. And we started by ditching the pork. As delicious as pork is, for this July Fourth offering we wanted something that didn't take hours upon hours on the grill. Instead, we went with chicken thighs. Nearly as lean as chicken breasts, thighs stay moist and are difficult to overcook. They also happen to be delicious when doused with a one-two punch of lemon-pepper sauce. We start by marinating the thighs in a...
CARLETON (AP) - With a flick of his wrist, Robbie McKnight can move five plastic digits close together to pick up objects. The movement, commonplace for most people, was something Robbie, 14, hadn't been able to experience with his right hand before. Now he has a robotic hand thanks to Airport Community Schools' staff creativity and a 3D printer. Robbie, an eighth-grader at Wagar Middle School, was born with amniotic band syndrome, which occurs when a fetus is entangled in the amniotic bands in...

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A federal judge on Wednesday set a 2018 deadline for the government to complete a long-delayed recovery plan for imperiled Canada lynx in the Lower 48 states. Wildlife advocates had asked U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy to push the government into faster action on the snow-loving big cats, which were added to the list of threatened species in 2000. But after federal officials said budget issues and competing priorities were slowing their work, Molloy indicated Wednesday...

Hundreds of people stood in line Tuesday to see the flower at the Plant Biology Conservatory. The rare bloom only lasts a few days. The plant last bloomed in 2010 and before that in 1995. Julia...
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Zoo is welcoming three little - and very rare - piglets. Officials on Monday announced the birth of three Chacoan peccaries. The triplets were born on June 3. Before then, scientists had only fossil records and thought the species was extinct. Chacoan peccaries are critically endangered because of hunting and habitat loss....

Word is getting out," Roehm...
BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) - For Queen Elizabeth II, one throne is enough. The United Kingdom's 88-year-old monarch toured the Belfast sets of the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" and met many of its stars Tuesday beside the show's sword-covered seat of power, the Iron Throne. Unlike many visitors to Belfast's Titanic Studios, the monarch declined to try out a throne legendarily forged from a thousand blades for the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. Instead, she received a miniature model as a gi...
