  • Double dose of lemon-pepper pops in pulled chicken

    Alison Ladman, Associated Press|Jun 27, 2014

For a fresh take on barbecued pulled pork we decided to reinvent it from the bottom up. And we started by ditching the pork. As delicious as pork is, for this July Fourth offering we wanted something that didn't take hours upon hours on the grill. Instead, we went with chicken thighs. Nearly as lean as chicken breasts, thighs stay moist and are difficult to overcook. They also happen to be delicious when doused with a one-two punch of lemon-pepper sauce. We start by marinating the thighs in a...

Wildlife advocates had asked U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy to push the government into faster action on the snow-loving big cats, which were added to the list of threatened species in 2000. But after federal officials said budget issues and competing priorities were slowing their work, Molloy indicated Wednesday...

The derby was delayed about a month because of floating ice on Lake Superior that lingered up until about two weeks ago, causing the annual spring tourney to become a summer contest. "We lost a few boats because of the rescheduling, but all in all it turned out to be a good weekend," boating club president Joe Maslanka said. Thirty-nine boats in two...
