IRONWOOD - With a May 19 start date set for the beginning of a two-year U.S. 2 reconstruction project in Ironwood, the city commission approved the project's funding at its meeting Monday evening. IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - The Ironwood Township Board of Trustees, Monday, discussed an alternative source of funding to help update its ailing roads. Four years ago, the township passed a four-year millage to help pay for a fire truck. The fire truck has since been paid for, allowing the board to drop the 1 mill from the taxes. WAKEFIELD - The Wakefield City Council scheduled a work session to discuss the proposed budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year during its meeting Monday. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority held a cleanup session Saturday afternoon along Trail 2, a snowmobile/ATV trail in western Gogebic County. Volunteers met in Bessemer early Saturday morning before gathering in Hurley to begin cleaning the trail back into Michigan.
