IRONWOOD- 14 year Air Force Veteran, and longtime Ironwood resident Murray Morgan travelled to Arlington National Cemetery Saturday Dec. 14 along with 40 other truck drivers as a part of Wreaths Across America. Morgan served as an ambassador for Halvor Lines Trucking, Superior, his employer. IRONWOOD- Auditions for "Rumbo," by Cynthia Mercati began Wednesday evening at the Ironwood Theatre, a production of local high school aged teens. The slapstick comedy will be performed in February, Director Mary Hansen said. Rehearsals will be twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, until the performance. HURLEY - A 53-year-old former Oma, Wis,, man was freed from a 42-year prison sentence Monday in Iron County Court. Donald Miller, who had been sentenced on a first-degree sexual assault with a dangerous weapon count in 1998, had that charge amended to a third-degree sexual assault charge, which carries a nine-year sentence. HURLEY - Students in Melanie Erspamer's third grade class mixed and mingled with some furry friends at the Hurley K-12 School Monday. WAKEFIELD - The Wakefield-Marenisco School Board discussed the proposed consolidation of the Bessemer and Wakefield-Marenisco school districts at its meeting Monday. A group of citizens has proposed a consolidation and is collecting signatures to put the issue on a ballot. BESSEMER - More than a dozen children spent Saturday morning making tasty creations during a gingerbread program through the Bessemer Public Library. Kids received all the parts to put together delicious gingerbread houses and listened to a Christmas story or two. BESSEMER - Twenty-five people braved sub-zero temperatures to carol on an old-fashioned hayride as part of Bessemer's community Christmas party, departing from the VFW Sunday afternoon. BESSEMER - An Ironwood man was found guilty of three felonies in Gogebic County Circuit Court Friday for operating a methamphetamine laboratory that burned along with a house in Ironwood on New Year's Eve 2012.
