WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. trade deficit widened in December after hitting a four-year low in November. But for 2013, the gap reached its lowest point since 2009 as exports rose to a record. Analysts said the larger-than-expected trade deficit for December would likely reduce estimates of growth in the October-December quarter. ASHLAND, Wis. - A pickup truck was demolished in a Wednesday afternoon accident on U.S. 2, near the top of Birch Hill, in the Odanah area. BESSEMER - Former Ironwood City Commissioner Tom Laabs was appointed to the District 2 seat on the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners Wednesday. BORYSEW, Poland (AP) - The owner of a private zoo in central Poland said Tuesday he feels three times lucky with the birth of white lion triplets who are getting loving care from their mother. IRONWOOD - The Ironwood Carnegie Library is joining a statewide effort to promote community reading and discussions. Beginning Friday, the library will participate in the Great Michigan Read program, a biennial program, inviting all Michigan residents to join in a discussion on a single literary title. IRONWOOD - City of Ironwood public works employees on Monday were repairing a water line break near the Gogebic County Fairgrounds that was discovered over the weekend. BESSEMER - More than 30 residents attended a public hearing for the Bessemer City Council to reconsider a special use permit for a medical marijuana dispensary Monday.
