    BESSEMER— Jane and Mark Bale have been providing foster care for 32 years, in addition to raising two daughters, now aged 30 and 27. This May they took on a new task for the state of Michigan, recruiting and retaining foster families in Gogebic and Ontonagon counties.     VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — “Glee” actor Cory Monteith died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol, the British Columbia coroner’s office said Tuesday. “There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith’s death was anything other than a most tragic accident,” the office said in a statement. The 31-year-old was found dead in his Vancouver, British Columbia, hotel room on Saturday, after he didn’t check out on time. He was believed to be alone when he died.     HURLEY — A $5,000 signature bond was set in Iron County Court Monday for a 26-year-old Stevens Point woman who faces charges related to a heated confrontation at the site of a proposed iron mine.     IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — Ironwood Township will be home to a new farmers, flea and craft market starting Aug. 6 at the Airport Recreation Park. According to township board trustee Kathy Maki, the event was originally set to begin at the end of July, but had to be moved back until August.     HURLEY — Turnout for the Apostolic Lutheran Church of America was great as they held their 105th annual Convention at the Hurley K-12 school. Alan Estola, Chairman of the convention, estimated 1,200 people showed up for the event, some from as far away as Finland, Sweden and Guatemala. “We had approximately 250 people come for the service held in Finnish.     IRONWOOD — The city of Ironwood Planning Commission approved a request for proposals from planning consultants to initiate a new 20-year plan for the city, and will next get the request approved by the city commission, said community development director Michael Brown. Ironwood’s last 20-year plan was written in 1982, with updates in 2000, said Brown. The landscape and economy have changed since then, Brown said.
