    UPSON, Wis. — Gogebic Taconite broke ground Wednesday to begin drilling core samples at the proposed iron ore mine near Upson after crews were obstructed by protesters the day before.     ONTONAGON — The seventh annual Barbecue Cook-off for Life, held Saturday, generated $6,074 for the Ontonagon County Cancer Association. This raises the total amount raised by the event to nearly $40,000. All the funds raised are used to assist Ontonagon County cancer patient with medical expanses.     IRONWOOD — A crew of about 10 people braved 50-degree, rainy weather to advance the brick-laying project at the Ironwood Depot on Wednesday afternoon.
