    IRONWOOD — Portage Lake scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to pull away and eliminate Penokee Range from the Little League District 11 (ages 11-12) tournament Wednesday.     IRONWOOD — After winning their first two Little League District 11 Tournament games at the John Krznarich Field, the Penokee Range All-Stars fell victim to Ishpeming and the 10-run rule in the winner’s bracket semifinal.     WAKEFIELD – The 36th annual Sunday Lake Run/Walk was held on Thursday with 261 runners and walkers participating under nearly perfect weather conditions on the scenic 2.8 mile course.     BESSEMER — The 25th annual Bessemer Hometown Run was held Saturday as part of the Bessemer Blast 2013 weeklong celebration. As the weather cooperated with no rain and temperatures in the mid 60s, 277 runners/walkers participated in the 10-kilometer run and 2-mile walk/run. Dave Rowe, teacher at A.D.     HURLEY — Football practice doesn't start for a month, but the Hurley Midgets had 40 high school players on the gridiron Monday for a Blugold Football Camp.     MARQUETTE — Saturday wasn’t much of a day for offense, but Gogebic Miners’ quarterback Eric Lane helped account for one of West’s touchdowns. Seven local players took part in the U.P.     BESSEMER — The Penokee Range All-Stars lost a heartbreaker, 6-5, to Negaunee Sunday during the District 11 ages 11-12 Little League softball tournament. Penokee plays Portage Lake tonight at 5:30 p.m. here.     IRONWOOD — Skiers will once again fly at Copper Peak. On Friday, USA Ski Jumping and Copper Peak announced an exhibition ski flying event to be held from Feb. 28 to March 2, 2014.
