BRUCE CROSSING, Mich. — Susan Hjordis Pinkerton, 55, of Bruce Crossing, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister began her new life with God on April 4, 2013.
She was born in Wakefield on March 24, 1958, to William and Hjordis (Maki) Hiitola. She graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School and was united in marriage to John Pinkerton on April 15, 1978, in Trout Creek.
Susan was very active in her community and her church, and served as an ELCA Licensed Lay Minister. She was also involved in Habitat for Humanity, various fundraising efforts, the Fourth of July Committee, clothing exchanges and her beloved Thursday Night Bowling. Susan also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, John; children Robert (Sherrie), Jeramy (fiancée Alexa Carson) and Alicia; and grandsons Landen and Trevor. She is also survived by her siblings Roberta Hodges, Karen (Bill) Abramson, William (Scorro), Wayne, LeeAnn (George) Anderson and Ernest; mother-in-law Margaret Kariainen; sister-in-law Jean (Jack) Jeffries and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tod.
Funeral Services for Susan will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bruce Crossing. Visitation will take place today from 5-8 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home – Bruce Crossing Chapel. Spring burial will be in the Agate Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choosing.
Susan was an incredibly loving and giving person; her final act of generosity was to donate to Gift of Life and to help up to 55 others in need. Susan’s family requests that her memory is honored with acts of kindness towards others.
