Mercer Lioness Club members from left, Joyce Brundage and chairman Jeannie Koleno, give diabetes awareness information to Tim Hoch, of Green Lake, Wis., while his daughters Shaely Hoch and Ella Hoch stand by March 26 in Mercer, Wis. The club hands out literature like “Don’t Lose Sight of Diabetic Eye Disease” to alert people with diabetes on dangers including blindness, heart disease, kidney failure and possible amputations. “The good news is diabetic eye disease, a complication of diabetes, can be treated before vision loss occurs,” Lioness Deanna Pierpont said. “All people with diabetes need to get a dilated eye exam at least once a year.”
