DAVENPORT, Iowa — Larry D. Hamilton, 75, of Davenport, formerly of Wakefield, Mich., died of cancer on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Davenport.
Larry was born on April 20, 1938, in Marenisco, Mich., the son of William and Marion (Heath) Hamilton. He attended school in Bergland, Mich.
In 1956, Larry joined the U.S. Air Force. He was based in South Korea and Washington, D.C., and was honorably discharged in 1960.
On March 10, 1962, Larry was united in marriage to Sharon Pikka at First Lutheran Church in Wakefield. Together they were blessed with four daughters.
He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield and the Stewart-Runyon American Legion Post 27 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Larry worked in logging and construction before becoming an over-the-road truck driver. He worked for various companies for 40 years.
Larry is survived by his former wife, Sharon Hamilton, Wakefield; four daughters, Tanja (Roger) Duffey, Davenport, Tara Hamilton, Wakefield, Toni (Tim) Viegut, Omro, Wis., and Tracie (Mark) Alexander, Kronenwetter, Wis .; 10 grandchildren, Taija (Robert) Medley, USN, Toria Duffey, Trey Hamilton, USAF, Torrin Hamilton, Ty and Cody Viegut, Elizabeth Newhouse and Taylor, Elayna and Matt Alexander; three brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Dixon Giackino, in 2009, and Tralee Duffey, in 2012; a brother, Roy; and two nephews, Steve Hamilton and Frank Kremposki.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held in Lewiston.
