Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

Kenneth J. LaRock

WILLOW RIVER, Minn. — Kenneth J. LaRock died peacefully in his sleep Friday, May 3, 2013.

He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Elizabeth; daughters, Marcia LaRock, Carol LaRock and Nancy Tuomie; grandchildren, Michael Sorenson, Corey Sorenson, Danielle Tuomie and Ashley Tuomie; and great-grandchild, Chance Sorenson.

Ken loved the outdoors — camping, fishing, snowmobiling and even mowing his lawn! A man of few words, his life showed “I love you” to his family, friends and those he met in his daily life. He had a generous serving heart that touched many.

Ken grew up in Marenisco, Mich. He served in the Army during World War II.

He married Elizabeth McDonald and raised three daughters in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. After retiring from the post office, he moved to Willow River, enjoying years of watching birds and deer in his backyard at “Rainbow’s End.”

Ken, you’ve left us, but your life has forever changed ours.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Minnesota State Parks.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Willow River on Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m., with a gathering one hour prior to service.
