PARK FALLS, Wis. — Germaine Berthe Jeanne Kichak, 93, of Mercer, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls.
The former Germaine Berthe Jeanne Le'ger was born April 17, 1919, in Amiens, France, daughter of the late Le'on Edmond Gaston and Berthe Irma Marie (Lefebvre) Le'ger.
She married John F. Kichak on Dec. 6, 1945, in France, and worked for the French government prior to coming to Ironwood, Mich. in 1946.
Moving to Mercer in 1949, she worked with her husband operating Johnny's Bar in downtown Mercer for many years until her retirement. John preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1991.
Germaine was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer. She loved to cook and watch ice skating on TV, and enjoyed taking Sunday afternoon rides with John and having a meal together afterwards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, James (Stephanie), Mercer, and daughter, Suzanne (James) Domoracki, Henderson, Nev .; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; stepson, John (Mary) Kichak, Hawaii; sister-in-law, Marion Revoy, Ironwood; and her constant companion, Harvey Coxey, Mercer.
Besides her parents and husband, Germaine was preceded in death by a brother, Leopold Le'ger; and two sisters, Simone Bulot and Marcelle S'ery.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, with the Rev. Lourdu Mandapati, celebrant.
Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Mercer Cemetery.
Luncheon will be served in the parish hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Domoracki, James, Stephen, Frank and Chuck Kichak, and Darrell Swearingen.
