Above, that’s not a sand trap behind Don Gertz of Ironwood, it’s snow. But people were golfing, at least on nine holes, at Eagle Bluff Golf Club in Hurley on a sunny but cool Friday. Course superintendent Jeff Tenlen said the course was opened on a limited basis because so many golfers “had the itch” to get the golf season going. He said he and his crew were still snowblowing all 18 greens on Monday and Tuesday and there was still snow on some of the fairways and greens. Last year, Tenlen said, golfers were out on the course with carts on April 1 and were walking on the course two weeks before that. No carts are allowed on the course just yet.
