IRONWOOD — “The only time I missed donating was when I had my knee surgery. Each pint of blood saves three lives,” said blood donor Jean Yurchak at Wednesday’s blood drive at the Ironwood Memorial Building.
Eighty-two pints of blood were collected, said volunteer Dick Armstrong, which is slightly down from an average of 90 pints of blood.
Each blood drive relies on the assistance of between 15 and 20 volunteers, mostly Kiwanis, said Armstrong.
The Red Cross Nurses come from as far away as Green Bay and Wausau, Wis., to assist.
