FRIDLEY, Minn. — Jay Walfred Perttula, 54, of Fridley, formerly of Trout Creek, Mich., passed away quietly on May 10, 2013, after an 8-month battle with cancer.
Jay was born on Nov. 9, 1958, to the late Walfred and Ellen (Hattula) Perttula.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walfred Jr. and David.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara (Morrison); his 25-year-old twin children, Jeramie (son) and Jamie (daughter); sister, Marjorie (Emmanuel) Voigt, and brother, Gerald (Cathy) Perttula, both of Trout Creek; and sister-in-law, Francis Perttula, of Port Orange, Fla.
Jay graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School in 1976 and attended Dunwoody Technical College, where he received his degree in automotive repair and refinishing. He was employed by Allstate Sales and Leasing in South Saint Paul for 30 years.
Jay was a loving husband and companion, wonderful father and great friend to all, who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He had two favorite hobbies, being a private pilot and seeing the beauty all around him, and his love of snowmobiling. If it was snowing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, you could hear him say to his friends “Let’s go!” He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A graveside ceremony will take place on June 29 at 10 a.m. at the Trout Creek Cemetery in Trout Creek.
