GWINN, Mich. — Shirley I. Hedstrom, 77, of Gwinn, died Saturday morning, May 18, 2013, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming.
She was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Gwinn, a daughter of the late William and Ina (Pelkola) Ontto. Shirley was a 1952 Gwinn High School graduate.
On June 2, 1956, she married Edmund G. Hedstrom in Gwinn. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2010.
Shirley had moved to Lake Gogebic, where she resided for 30 years, before returning to Gwinn.
Shirley was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, collecting glassware, writing letters and plants.
She is survived by a son, Mark Hedstrom, of Gwinn; and a niece, Leanne (Jeff) Weeks, of Texas.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Diana Abramson.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 11 a.m. in the Gwinn Cemetery with the Rev. Rell Spickerman officiating.
