Barbecue Cook-off for Life raises more than $6,000

ONTONAGON — The seventh annual Barbecue Cook-off for Life, held Saturday, generated $6,074 for the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.

This raises the total amount raised by the event to nearly $40,000. All the funds raised are used to assist Ontonagon County cancer patient with medical expanses.

Tom Domitrovich and Griff Roehm, who chair the event, said it would not be possible without all the volunteers, barbecue teams, 48 business and individuals who gave monetary donations, 13 firms and individuals who made in kind donations and those who attended the event.

“It is really a compliment to have businesses actually contact us to see what they can do to help and who to make out the check to,” Domitrovich said.

Ontonagon County cancer patients who need financial help can contact the association at P.O. Box 282, Ontonagon MI 49953.
