Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
HURLEY — Turnout for the Apostolic Lutheran Church of America was great as they held their 105th annual Convention at the Hurley K-12 school.
Alan Estola, Chairman of the convention, estimated 1,200 people showed up for the event, some from as far away as Finland, Sweden and Guatemala.
“We had approximately 250 people come for the service held in Finnish. By the weekend, attendance just grew and grew,” Estola said.
Services were held multiple times a day in both English and Finnish. Youth services were also held, as well as youth meetings at the Airport Park in Ironwood Township.
There were many meals. A convention meeting was held and stories of mission work were shared.
Other events were held at the Apostolic Lutheran Church at 326 W. Aurora St., in Ironwood.
