BESSEMER, Mich. — Sandra J. “Sandy” Wiemeri, 55, of Bessemer, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 21, 2013, at home, after a long courageous battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
She was born May 10, 1958, in Aurora, Minn., daughter of Donald and Joanne (Knight) Lanala. Sandy attended schools in Minnesota and also A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer. She was employed locally at the Kodiak Corporation, Bessemer Plywood, Modern Case and the Cayuga Wreath Company.
Sandy enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping and watching TV, especially “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Price is Right.” She also enjoyed going to bingo and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Sandy was a very caring and giving person. She was a good friend and neighbor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald. She is survived by her mother, Joanne, of Wakefield.
Also surviving is a son, Kyle (Julia) Wiemeri, and three daughters, Deana (Josh) Wiemeri, Kristi Wiemeri and Courtney Wiemeri, all of Bessemer; and grandchildren, Gavinn Wiemeri, Mariah (Anthony) Vernetti, Trenton Marsh, Austin Dziura, Haley Dziura and Melissa Dziura. A grandson, Karter Wiemeri, is expected soon. Surviving are also two brothers, Jim (Debbie) Knight, of Milwaukee, and Dirk Knight, of Colorado; three sisters, Sheryl (Paul) Panich, of Ohio, Lisa (Scott) Moselle, of Colorado, and Kelly (Al) Knight-Cline, of Rhinelander, Wis. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family also survive.
Sandy was also preceded in death by Gizzy, a lifetime family pet.
A memorial service will be held at the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home, 304 S. Sophie St., Bessemer, on Friday, July 26, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Todd Winkler will officiate.
Sandy’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.
