Tall ship

THE U.S. Brig Niagara is at rest Wednesday near Devil’s Island, off the Bayfield Peninsula in Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands, according to photographer Gary Jackson, of Ironwood. The ship patrolled Lake Erie during the War of 1812 before it was sunk, raised and restored twice, last in 1988. The ship was headed west to be part of Duluth’s Tall Ships Festival, which runs through Monday.
