IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. — Christine Scott Kallal, 63, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Aug. 1, 2013, at her home.
Chris was born on Nov. 21, 1949, in Springfield, Ill., to Robert Scott and Margaret Scott Anderson. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1967 and attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
She married Thomas Kallal in 1970 and recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary. They moved to Iron Mountain in 1978.
Chris worked at Bay Title and Abstract for nearly 30 years, during which she completed her education and earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and business administration from Northern Michigan University. She was a longtime member and served as a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. She loved quilting, gardening, cooking and traveling with her family and visiting her children.
Chris is survived by her mother, Margaret, of Miami; husband, Tom, of Iron Mountain; three daughters, Amy Kallal (Gregory Keyes), of New York, N.Y., Lara Kallal (Adam Hartigan), of Hoboken, N.J., and Kate Kallal (Brian Rudd), of Ithaca, N.Y.; a sister, Madeline (Dwayne) Beatty, of Miami; one grandson, Elliot David Rudd; and many nieces, nephews and friends, including special friend Linnea Marchetti.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, with the Rev. Michael March officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon CDT, with a memorial service at noon and luncheon to follow.
