Lynn Adams, from left, Joy Schelble and Zona Wick hold up a pizza made with fresh basil from the community garden at a healthy foods class held Thursday evening at the Iron County Courthouse. Fifteen people attended the free event and learned about how to cook with fresh herbs instead of salt. A diet high in salt can cause problems especially for people with hypertension, diabetes or heart disease, Wick said, who also talked to the group about the health benefits of herbs. Schelble provided information on how to grow, harvest and store herbs. Dishes served included a southwestern salad with cilantro, braised carrots with sage, stuffed zucchini with basil, a variety of herb-topped pizzas and tea made with lemon verbena and anise hyssop.
