ARCADIA, Wis. — Barbara Ann (Charles) Tieman, of Arcadia and Watersmeet, Mich., died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at her daughter Chris’s home in Arcadia, following a yearlong illness.
Barb was born on March 20, 1938, in Algoma, to Harold and Leona Charles.
She married Robert Tieman and together they owned and operated the Watersmeet Trout Hatchery in Watersmeet for more than 30 years. Barb was always an energetic and upbeat lady with a huge sense of humor and an extraordinary zest for life. She loved motorcycling, snowmobiling, antique cars, traveling, dogs, guns, hunting and her loving family. She was an “over the top” Elvis fan and had a large collection of his memorabilia, including her license plate “PRESLY.”
Barb is survived by her sister, Cindy (Ron) Anderson, Balsam Lake .; two daughters, Christine (Roger) Derrickson, Arcadia, and Patricia (Lonnie) Mattila, Drummond, Tenn .; five grandchildren, Summer Slaby, Wes Paul, Ean Paul, Montana Mattila and Tori Mattila; and two very special great-grandchildren, Brooke Slaby and Walker Slaby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Tieman; and a brother, Harold Charles Jr. “Charlie.”
A memorial service in memory of “Barb” will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Holy Family Parish in Arcadia. The Rev. Sebastian will officiate.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until services at the church on Friday.
The family would like memorials made out to The Cancer Center of La Crosse or Black River Hospice.
