IRONWOOD, Mich. — Eugene “Gene” Murra, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Westgate Nursing Home and Assisted Living in Ironwood.
He was born March 11, 1930, in Ironwood, son of the late Edward and Julia Murra. Gene graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1948.
On May 28, 1960, he was married to Irene Calvi. She preceded him in death in September 2006.
He is survived by three brothers, William Murra, Iron Mountain, Bernard Murra, Rhinelander, Wis., and Jim (Marilyn) Murra, Hurley, Wis .; two sisters, Elizabeth Vukusich, Bessemer, and Charlotte Vardon, Ironwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Jr., in 1962; two sisters, Regina Holgers in 1989, and Margaret Lockhard in 2006; two brothers-in-law, Richard Vardon in 2009, and Frank Vukusich in 2012; and a sister-in-law, Joan Murra.
Funeral services were held in Florida.
