WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Mary Rose Jacobson, 98, of Johnson Road, Bessemer, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, in Wakefield.
Mary was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Yankton, S.D., daughter of Jacob and Albertina Tannheimer.
Mary enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved baking, gardening and being with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her summers were filled with many camping trips to Pomeroy Lake and Lake Gogebic with friends. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer.
On Aug. 18, 1934, she was married to Walter George Jacobson. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert; brothers, Louis, Joe and Larry Tannheimer; and sisters, Hildagarde and Eleanor. She was also preceded in death by daughters-in-law, Marilyn and Maryann.
She is survived by five sons, Richard, of Oak Creek, Wis., Dennis, of Bessemer, Wallace (Shane), of Spotsylvania, Va., William (Sue), of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Michael (Rosi), of Bessemer; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by sisters, Anna Elias and Cecelia Eisenbach; and her youngest brother, Francis (Dorothy) Tannheimer
She will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. The Rev. Benjamin Hasse will be the celebrant.
Mary’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday.
Rite of Committal will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
A luncheon will follow at the church hall.
Range Funeral Service Inc. and the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home of Bessemer have been entrusted will funeral arrangements.
