Phillips dominates Ironwood

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — The Ironwood Red Devils lost their second straight 5-0 game on Tuesday, this time to Phillips.

The Devils lost to Niagara by the same score on Saturday.

Phillips controlled the ball on its end almost the entire game.

“I’m disappointed in the play,” Ironwood coach Don Cvengros said. “(Today) we’re going to practice and we’re going to start right from the beginning, work on our skills and see if we can’t figure out what we’re doing wrong here.”

A week ago Tuesday, Ironwood forced Washburn into overtime and seemed to be on the right track. Injuries have hurt a team with a small roster.

“Injuries are injuries,” Cvengros said. “Other guys have to step up and play. That’s part of the game. When we don’t have very many to begin with, that’s what makes it tough.”

Ironwood (0-4) hosts Phelps on Thursday for another Northern Lights Conference game.
