Gary Armedas Dalbeck

THOMASTON, Mich. — Gary Armedas Dalbeck, 68, a lifelong resident of Thomaston, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, Sept. 30, 2013.

He was born on Dec. 27, 1944, at home in Thomaston, the son of Clarence and Elizabeth (Minier) Dalbeck. 

On May 1, 1964, Gary married Lois Jean Bailey in Ceour d’Alene, Idaho.

In earlier years, he worked for Connor Lumber and Land and then was employed by Superior Tree Service for 25 years. In 1999, Gary and his sons started G.A. Dalbeck Logging.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Lois; a daughter, Joyce E. (Ron Basom) Dalbeck, Wakefield; two sons, Clarence (Kristy), Hurley, Wis., and George (Alicia “Mud” Grendziak), Ironwood; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Genevieve Nurmi, Wakefield, Leola “Ducky” Cook, Merriweather, Christine (Norman) Waurio, Kimball, Wis., and Mary (Mike) Wendell, Appleton, Wis .; his mother-in-law, Joyce G. Bailey, Wakefield; his sister-in-law, Sandra Dalbeck, Wakefield; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and other loving relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Wilbert Pikka; a brother, Dalbert C .; a sister, Clarice (Joe) Sailer; and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd “John” Cook Jr. and Elmer Nurmi.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield. The Rev. Ben Hasse, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, will officiate.
