IRONWOOD, Mich. — Earl T. Maki, 41, of Ironwood, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, in Ironwood.
He was born on May 15, 1972, in Ironwood, son of Glenn and Jean (Carlson) Maki. He attended Ironwood schools, graduating from Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1989.
With his brother, Scott, Earl owned and operated E & S Welding in Bessemer for many years. At the time of his death, he was employed by Hilborne Logging, Trucking and Recycling.
Earl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved deer camp in Jarvi Country. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and four-wheeling with his children, Nick and Ellie. Earl was a good friend to many, always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help others.
He is survived by his mother, Jean Maki, of Ironwood; his son, Nick Maki, of Wakefield; his daughter, Ellie Maki, of Ironwood; one brother, Scott (Diane) Maki, of Bessemer; one sister, Carrie (Mark) Anderson, of Kenai, Alaska; two nephews, Brandon and Travis Anderson; and two nieces, Michelle (Kevin) Nett and Britney Maki.
Earl was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; one brother, Steven; and one sister, Kristy.
Cremation has taken place at Range Crematory in Hurley, Wis.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood. The Rev. Kurt Kovanen will officiate.
The family will receive friends and relatives Friday from 1 p.m. until the service at the church.
