MONTREAL, Wis. — Frank J. “Chico” Morzenti, 91, of Illinois Avenue, Montreal, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, in Hurley.
He was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Pence, son of the late Nicholas and Caroline (Ghis Alberti) Morzenti. Frank attended the Montreal Grade School and the Hurley High School. From March 3, 1943, until Jan. 6, 1946, he served in the Army Air Force, in the Central Burma and India Burma Battle and Campaign. Frank was awarded with European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge.
Frank was employed by the city of Montreal and then the Iron County Highway Department until retirement.
Frank was a homebody. He enjoyed gardening and reading, and was a political junkie. He also was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1580 and American Legion Post 58, both of Hurley.
On Aug. 9, 1952, he was married to the former Phyllis Broemer in Hurley. She preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2011.
He is survived by two sons, Rocky (Michelle), of Eau Claire, and Frank Jr. “Joe” (Sue), of Green Bay; two daughters, Shyanne (Dennis) Gulan, of Pence, and Frances (Jon) Pudas, of Hurley; 13 grandchildren, Shane (Tanya), Stacie, Joe, Hope, Jamie, Jesse (David), Luke, Jared, Justin, Justine, Tony, Nate (Amanda) and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren, Gabrial, Savanna, Ryleigh, Brantley and LaShon. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Beside his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Morzenti Sr., Charles Morzenti and Nicholas Morzenti.
Cremation will take place in accordance with Frank’s wishes.
Private services will be held.
Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Mich.
Range Funeral Service and Crematory of Hurley and the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home of Bessemer are assisting the family.
