WESTON, Wis. — Ronald Eugene Bell, 84, of Wausau, formerly of Mercer, died Oct. 4, 2013, at Saint Clare’s Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Beloit, to Rollin and Marie (Hubbard) Bell. He graduated from Beloit High School in 1947.
On March 24, 1951, Ron married Marianne Lynch. The couple made their home in Mercer, where they owned and operated a family resort for 16 years. Ron also worked for the Mercer water and utility department and drove school bus for 22 years.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Post 424.
After Marianne died in 1997, Ron moved to Apache Junction, Ariz., and lived there for nine years. He came back to Wausau in 2011, where he lived until his death.
He loved to hunt, fish and play golf. He treasured his hunting trips out West with his son and friends.
Ron is survived by a daughter, Denise (Don) Skare, Weston; a son, Michael (Sharon) Bell, Kasson, Minn .; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne; daughter, Judith Bell; son, Rick Bell; and brothers, George, William, Joseph and Dennis.
A graveside service with military honors for family and friends was held on Oct. 11 at the Mercer Cemetery.
Ron will be missed by family and friends, by all of the staff and residents at Riverview Terrace in Wausau, as well as the staff at Kennedy Park Nursing Home in Weston. He can now be with his spiritual family in Heaven.
