Dolores B. Cocco

BESSEMER, Mich. — Dolores B. Cocco, 90, of Bessemer, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, Oct. 14, 2013.

Dolores was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in Anvil, the daughter of William and Mary (Rosa) Nyman. She graduated from A.D. Johnston High School, class of 1940.

She was united in marriage to Eugene A. Cocco, also of Anvil, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer.

Dolores worked many years at the Anvil Store, including the post office, followed by several years at the Wakefield Co-op. Along with her husband, they managed an American Youth Hostel for skiers at the former Barber School. After retirement, she cleaned houses for a few elderly friends.

She was a faithful member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Dolores volunteered countless hours to support the Ladies’ Guild by running the annual rummage sales out of her garage and by taking pasty orders.

Dolores is survived by a daughter, Gail (Ken) Brors, New Brighton, Minn .; a grandson, Mark, New Brighton; four nieces, Karen (Arthur) Caviness, of Ohio, Donna (Dan) McMillen, of Kansas, Sandy (Gary) Erickson, Bessemer, and Susan (Doug) Inglish, of Minnesota; a nephew, Bill (Dolly) Nyman, Bessemer; other loving relatives; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gene, on July 18, 1990; and a brother, William Nyman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.

Luncheon will be served in Father Swoboda Hall at the church immediately upon return from the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her family and friends.

Because of her love for dogs, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Help Orphaned Pets Everywhere, P.O. Box 261, Ironwood MI 49938.

Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield is assisting the family. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at lakesidememorialchapel.com.
