IRONWOOD — Numerous local patrons gathered at the memorial building on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to peruse books at the semi-annual Ironwood Carnegie Library book sale.
An exclusive book sale for Friends of the Library members was held on Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ironwood Memorial Building.
A book sale has been held by the library every spring and fall for at least the last eight years. All books offered at the sales are donated by local individuals.
The book sales help to fund the library’s various programs, especially those offered for children. Friends of the Library memberships also tend to grow during the book sale season, as exclusive benefits such as a book sale preview are offered only to registered members.
Books and magazines were arranged by section, including romance, biography and mystery, inside the memorial building. A table of free books was also set up just outside the door of the auditorium.
Book sale volunteer Gayle True mentioned that there was a good turnout for the sale this year. “People get used to this and look forward to it,” she said.
The library is currently accepting books as donations for the next sale.
