SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Lucille B. Jarvela, 96, formerly of Hurley, Wis., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013.
Lucille was born June 25, 1917, in Gillespie, Ill., to Alexander “Alex” and Mary (nee Bugni) Cheskey. She attended Lincoln High School in Hurley and graduated in 1934. She was married to Waino “Jake” Jarvela in Hurley on April 10, 1939. They were married 69 years at the time of his passing.
Lucille is survived by and will be missed by two daughters, Janette Bloom, of Southfield, and Joni (Terry) Mildren, of Warren; grandchildren, Jennifer Bloom (Phil) and Kristina (Scott) Kovach, all of Southfield, and Kevin Pollack (Betsy), of Warren; great-grandchildren, Zackary Kovach, and Vanessa Trevino (daughter of Kevin); a niece, Janine Jarvela (George Anderson), of Arlington, Texas; and a nephew, Jeff Jarvela, in California.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Waino “Jake,” in 2008; her parents, Alexander and Mary Chesky; an infant sister; a brother, James “Jimmy” Chesky at age 5; her in-laws, Waino Werner and Aina “Matilda” (nee Wikberg) Jarvela; and a brother in-law, William “Bill” Jarvela.
Out of respect for Lucille’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
