Maxine E. Lillar

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Maxine E. Lillar, 90, of Wakefield, formerly of Flint and Davison, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 12, 1923, in Akron, the daughter of Bert and Wavia (Enos) Wolverton. Maxine graduated from Flint Northern High School.

She was united in marriage to James N. Lillar in Flint.

Maxine was a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Flint, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 in Wakefield.

Maxine is survived by two sons, Jerry (Diana), Oscoda, and Jack (Carole), Wakefield; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Earnestine (Howard) Millington, Columbiaville; three sisters-in-law, Luella Galle, Flint, Isabelle Gerhardt, Essexville, and Jan Wolverton, La Mirada, Calif .; her brother-in-law, Joe Kinderman, Bay City; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Lucina Wolverton; her beloved husband, James, on Jan. 8, 1987; three brothers, Max and Loren Wolverton and Gilbert "Roy" Galle; and a sister, Madalynne Brasseur.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m., preceded by visitation at noon, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Raymond F. Moncher, celebrant. Also in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild Honor Guard. There will be a VFW Ladies Auxiliary memorial service at the church just prior to the Mass.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Perttula, C.J. Perttula, Scott Bouvette, Gary Pikka, Jacob Pikka and Chad Pflueger.

Rite of Committal will take place Monday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m., in the mausoleum of Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris, with the Rev. George Puthenpeedika, pastor of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow.
