DUNEDIN, Fla. - Robert Thomas "Tom" Gorshe, 61, formerly of Watersmeet, Mich., passed away Oct. 15, 2013, in Dunedin.
Tom was born May 22, 1952, to the late Dorothy (Sorlie) Haken and the late Francis Gorshe.
He is survived by four brothers, Harold (Margot) Allen, Sun City West, Ariz., Joe (Heidi) Gorshe and Gerald Gorshe, Wausau, Wis., and Timothy (Carmen) Gorshe, Cibolo, Texas; two sisters, Mary Malinowski, Wausau, and Ann (Greg) Baker, Lake Geneva, Wis .; and many loving relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his stepmother, Herbertine Gorshe; and his grandmother, Ragna Nelson.
Tom graduated from Watersmeet High School. He then join the Hodag Platoon and served his time in Colorado. Soon after he came home, he moved to Florida.
Tom's current job was groundskeeper for the Toronto Blue Jays. Tom made friends wherever he was. No one will ever forget his readiness and willingness to give anyone a hand. Tom always had a smile on his face and a happy-go-lucky attitude. Tom will be missed by family, friends and his second family, the Blue Jay organization.
A memorial was held in Florida, Oct. 26, at the Blue Jay Stadium.
A memorial will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Watersmeet Bible Church. Visitation will run from 10 to 11 a.m.
The service will begin at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow.
